What Has The Explorer Charles Brewer-Carías Ever Done For Us? Part 1
Charles Brewer-Carías exudes a mischievous charisma that enchants all that have the pleasure of sharing a room (or a cave, or a rainforest) with him. In his Indiana Jones-like presence it’s impossible not to grow doe-eyed with admiration, but what has he actually done? Well, as it happens, he’s done a great deal of impressive things.
You’d think that making important discoveries in fields as varied as anthropology, botany, entomology, geology, geography and zoology would be enough- not for Charles though, as he’s even skilled at dentistry. You want more? He holds a 2.7 second record for starting fires with sticks, and his jungle survival skills are as unparalleled as his spelunking techniques (and no, we didn’t make up the word ‘spelunking’, which is the art of cave exploration).
Those of you now feeling inadequate may bathe in the solace of knowing that at least he hasn’t had any animals named after him, but make it a quick (and mistaken) bath as we’re going to find out some doubly impressive facts about Charles very soon.
